St. Anthony teachers regularly attend workshops, seminars, and graduate courses to explore the latest research, investigate best practices in pedagogy, and develop new ways to innovate in their own classrooms.
We partner with Saint Mary’s College and Indiana University of South Bend to host student teachers at our school. These energetic students learn from our Master Teachers on the faculty and help us provide individualized attention to our students. In addition, field experience students from Saint Mary’s College and Cadet Teachers from Marian High School and Adams High School assist our teachers and students throughout the year.
We recognize that every student learns differently, so our teachers tailor their instruction to meet various abilities and needs.
Enrichment programs, instructional assistants, resource teachers, and tutoring maximize each student's potential. Speech therapy and counseling are available onsite for qualifying students.
St. Anthony graduates show consistent, outstanding academic performance at the high school level due to their grade school preparation. Our teachers stay after school, come before school or give up a planning period to help students with whatever struggles they may have.
St. Anthony has had low teacher turnover, showing that teachers here believe in our school, love it and don’t want to leave. This is a strength because when the faculty works together longer, the curriculum gets stronger and more comprehensive. We have alumni teachers here, and teachers whose children are students or alumni of our school. St. Anthony’s is a place to come “home” to, a place to believe in. -Linda Waltz '79, St. Anthony Teacher & Alumnae
