Students enkindle the liturgical life of our school by serving in school ministries. From singing at Mass to participating in Living Stations of the Cross, our students are involved in several aspects of liturgical celebration. By encouraging their participation at school, we hope to foster in them a deep connection to the liturgy and a desire to continue to serve in high school and beyond.
The closer you are to the altar, the more you will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you will be nourished by the word and the body of the Lord. -Pope Francis
This Ministry is a commitment in the service to the Mass. This commitment is not only to the altar but should be looked at as an honor and a genuine Holy Service.
All boys and girls in grades 5-8 are eligible to serve at School Masses, weekend and daily Masses at St. Anthony Parish. Please contact Mrs. Valentiny if your child is interested in this ministry at 574-233-7169 or avalentiny@stasb.org.
Student cantors as well as the Children's Choir lead songs during school day liturgical celebrations.
The St. Anthony de Padua Children's Choir also sings at the 10:30 am Children's liturgy on the 4th Sunday of each month. The choir is open to all children grades 3-8 at any school–public, private, or home school.
Rehearsals
Choir members rehearse on the Wednesdays before the 4th Sunday of each month from 3pm-3:30pm during the school year. We place special emphasis on prayer, singing as a ministry, and age appropriate vocal technique.

In addition to singing and serving, our students also read at Mass. Participating in this ministry is a wonderful way to get kids involved in the liturgy and help them understand the difference between simply reading versus proclaiming the Word of the Lord.
Living Stations is a presentation of the Stations of the Cross in a different dimension. Sixth grade students enact each station, accompanied with prayers and reflections.
