We want you to start the year off without sweating the small stuff. Here's a list of FAQs and tips for the first day of school, so you and your kids can start the year off feeling excited and confident. Don't forget–the first day is an early dismissal day– school begins at 8am and ends at 1pm.
Morning arrival this year will be from 7:35 am-8:05 am. Parents should take their students through the carline (entering via Jefferson or Ironwood). Upon arrival, students will report directly to their classrooms, and staff will help direct students and maintain distancing. To limit the number of people in the building, we ask that parents drop off children in the car line or say goodbye to them outside of the building. Be sure to review our Morning Drop-off Procedures.
Make sure your child brings a backpack plus an extra bag to keep at their desk, a backup mask, a lunch with a drink (if lunch was not ordered), a small snack (Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 3), water bottle (optional), supplies from the classroom supply list (if you did not drop off on your assigned supply drop-off day). Don't forget to label personal school supplies and items with a sharpie. Pre-K kids need a few extra items.
Students in Grades PreK-8 should wear their uniforms and a clean face covering (please pack a backup). We go outside for recess whenever possible, so make sure their shoes can handle the mulch on the playground.
Send it to class with your child in a clearly marked and sealed packet.
Dismissal will be at 1:00pm on the first 3 days of school and follow a special staggered schedule for COVID safety. Please note, Pre-K students with no older siblings will be dismissed at 12:15pm. Be sure to review our School Pickup Schedule & Procedures before you leave. If you have questions, call the school office at 574-282-2308. The first day is busy, so please be patient if you can't get through right away.
Extended School Care will begin on the first day of school. If you would like to utilize this service for Before and After School Care for your child, you'll need to register. Learn more.
